>“Finally, the Italian wine has the respect that it deserves.” Piero Antinori, owner of one of the most prestigious wineries and president of  Grandi Marchi talks at Master of Wine symposium, the event that has been taking place during these days in Florence.

Antinori talks with other wine producers such as Alberto Tasca d' Almerita's, Gaja Gaja and Maurizio Zanella. It was an important opportunity to communicate the state of the Italian wine art. Antinori said at once that he was lucky because he has lived through a period of great change, from pre to post- revolution, revolution, fifty adventurous and still loads of perspective years.

Antinori  gives some examples and explains: “We have new goals and a perspective for the future and we can still be done to improve the situation. For example, twenty percent of Italian vineyards are not  aimed to a quality production. We must  to change back this twenty percent with the help of European Union.

Another goal is improving the communication about what we do and improving the way in which we know the value and character of the many varieties of Italian grapes.

Even we have to work in the territories. In fact not all Italian regions have the same notoriety.  Apulia, for example is not enough known  and it has extraordinary indigenous varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Nero di Troia, Bombino, Aglianico. In order to achieve this goal we have to use values like beauty. Landscapes, churches … This is what I think: it should be work for Apulia in the same way of Sicily. “
